The International Federation of Procurement and Supply Management (IFPSM) officially launched the preparation phase of the 2026 IFPSM International Supply Chain Skills Competition (Sunshine Smart Chain Cup) with a global Pre-Competition Meeting held online on 1 June 2026.
As a flagship talent development initiative and a supporting event of the 2026 IFPSM World Summit, the competition brings together students and emerging professionals from around the world to strengthen their knowledge, practical skills, and strategic thinking in procurement and supply chain management.
The Pre-Competition Meeting welcomed team captains, participants, coaches, and organisers from multiple countries and regions. The session provided a comprehensive overview of the competition framework, schedule, rules, and evaluation criteria, ensuring that all participating teams are well prepared for the journey ahead.
A key part of the briefing focused on the Sunshine Smart Chain Supply Chain Practical Sandtable, the advanced simulation platform that forms the core of the competition. Participants were introduced to the platform's operational logic, competition structure, and decision-making environment, which mirrors the complexities of real-world global supply chains.
The competition has been initiated and is technically supported by the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing (CFLP), whose experts shared valuable insights on competition strategy, platform functionality, and best practices for success. The session also provided an opportunity for participants to raise questions and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
By combining digital simulation, international collaboration, and practical problem-solving, the IFPSM International Supply Chain Skills Competition provides a unique platform for developing the next generation of procurement and supply chain professionals. Participants will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in realistic business scenarios, strengthen teamwork and leadership capabilities, and engage with peers from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
The competition reflects IFPSM's ongoing commitment to advancing professional excellence, supporting talent development, and fostering greater resilience and innovation across global supply chains.
Additional training and preparation sessions will be conducted throughout June, providing teams with further opportunities to enhance their understanding of the competition platform and refine their strategic capabilities before the main competition begins.
IFPSM extends its appreciation to all participating institutions, team leaders, mentors, and competitors for their enthusiasm and commitment and looks forward to an exciting and successful 2026 competition.
